The New Untappd
Toast
The time has come and we couldn't be more excited. Today we're launching an all new version of the Untappd iPhone and Android apps. Completely redesigned from the ground up on both the front and back end. We've spent months perfecting this and we're ready to release it into the wild.
In addition, we're proud to announce that we've surpassed 10,000,000 total check-ins by the Untappd community. Yes, you read that correctly, TEN MILLION check-ins have been logged on Untappd and we couldn't be more excited and grateful for all of our users!
Faster and Prettier
The new Untappd features a much more refined interface to allow for a better user experience. We've worked to design a much more crisp UI that is much more visually appealing. You can now view reviews, comments, toasts, and photo thumbnails while in the activity feed. Additionally, all of the code, on both the front and back end, has been rewritten and optimized to make checking in and discovering beers much faster.
Discover What's Around You
We've taken Untappd from being a plain old check-in app to a complete beer discovery tool. With the new Discover tab, you can find beers that are popular or nearby your current location. This allows you to make better decisions about where you want to grab your next brew before you even leave home. You can even use the Discover feature to find out what bars your friends are drinking at so you can meet up! Don't worry, if you don't want to be bothered you can turn it off.
Better Personalized Suggestions
We've reworked our entire suggestions engine to provide you with more personalized recommendations. Beers suggested to you will now be based on your personal style preferences, those of your friends and the overall ratings within those two groups.
Badge Progress
Many of you know what it's like to wonder how close you are to that one badge you're dying to unlock. Unfortunately in our previous version you would either have to keep track yourself, or submit a help ticket. Now you can view badge progress for the majority of our badges directly in the app!
Report Incorrect and Duplicate Beers
You now have the ability to report duplicate beers and make suggested beer edits directly from within the app. No longer will you need to make your way to our help board - that is, unless you want to.
In addition, there are dozens of other tweaks and improvements all over the app. You'll need to get the app to see everything!
